NGO denounces Qatar over jailing of religious leader

Human Rights Watch has denounced Qatar’s decision to sentence a religious leader within the country to five years in prison, claiming the move violates the leader’s religious liberty, Middle East Eye via AFP reported on August 16th.
Aged 71, Remy Rowhani who is Qatar’s National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahais president, was handed the jail sentence on August 13th by a court in Doha for charges of breaching public order as well as social and religious principles.
