Tunisia will host the inaugural Invest in Africa 2025 economic forum with the Confederation of Citizen Enterprises of Tunisia (CONECT) leads the initiative, which primarily targets Italian firms eager to explore Tunisia as a base for expansion into African markets, as reported by Tunisie Numerique on August 21st.

The initiative, lead under the banner “From gateway to partnership: fostering a culture of joint manufacturing to penetrate African markets,” features targeted B2B meetings, presentations on Tunisia’s investment advantages, and field visits to Italian companies already operating in the country. These activities aim to strengthen economic ties and highlight practical opportunities for collaboration and development.

Aslan Ben Rajeb, President of CONECT, said “Africa is not only our future, it is also our present. In Tunisia, we are working to open a new gateway for joint development with our Italian partners.”

CONECT organises the event in partnership with the Italian Employers’ Organisation, its Tunis branch, the Tunisian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Tunisian-Italian Business Centre. According to Ben Rajeb, the forum’s objectives include positioning the Mediterranean as a platform for African development, creating technological and industrial alliances with Italy, and advancing trade agreements such as COMESA and AfCFTA.

He described small and medium-sized enterprises as the backbone of Tunisia’s economy and urged greater support for high value-added sectors, including agribusiness, renewable energies, water treatment, and modern technologies. Many of which the Italian government and Tunisia have existing agreements.

He also stressed Tunisia’s reforms to improve the business climate through digitalisation, fiscal incentives, and simplified procedures. “The message we want to send to our Italian partners is clear: Africa is the space of future opportunities, and Tunisia is the natural and secure gateway to the continent,” he said.

Sandro Fratini, President of the Tunisian-Italian Business Centre “Delta,” added that the forum aims to foster a new type of bilateral trade and investment relations.
