Australian PM defends immigration amid far-right protests

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has defended Australia’s immigration policies after nationwide anti-immigration rallies over the weekend.
According to Algerian-friendly AL24 News via ABC News on September 1, he said migration has brought “a great deal of benefit” to the nation, while warning that far-right groups, including neo-Nazis, were exploiting the protests to spread hate.
Albanese condemned a neo-Nazi speech delivered on the steps of Victoria’s Parliament as “not the Australian way” and described parts of the demonstrations as “hateful.” He stressed the rallies do not reflect the majority view, noting Australia’s long history of multiculturalism and diversity.
