Spain detains Libya bound ship carrying military equipment

Spanish authorities detained a cargo vessel on August 27th on suspicion of transporting military equipment to Libya, which has been anchored in Spanish territorial waters while an investigation is launched according to the Libyan Express.
Libya is under a strict arms embargo due to violent conflict throughout the nation, but the Liberia-flagged ships movements raised suspicions of restricted or military grade materials potentially being transported to Libya.
Spain is just one of the nations taking responsibility for the monitoring of smuggling routes through the Mediterranean sea, a route also used heavily by migrants from North Africa.
