Syrians are cautiously optimistic about their country’s future

A national Syrian survey has found that while Syrians feel optimistic about their country’s new leadership, economic challenges and corruption are areas of concern, according to The New Arab on September 1st.
In a Damascus event organised by the Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies, the results of the Arab Index 2025’s fifth round were shown. This is the first survey to analyse Syrians thoughts on their country after the fall of former leader, Bashar al-Assad.
The poll found that 56% of Syrians feel that their nation is heading towards the right path. But 42% of households said their income does not pay for basic necessities and 89% of those polled, felt that corruption is extensive in Syria.
