Watchdog finds uranium traces in Syria linked to bombed site

Traces of uranium have been discovered in Syria by the UN nuclear watchdog in its investigation of a building attacked by Israel in 2007, Al-Monitor via Reuters reported on September 1st.
The watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in 2011 that it is highly likely the building, which is located in a Deir al-Zor site, was a reactor created covertly, which Syria did not declare to the watchdog.
The watchdog was able to collect samples at three locations which were purportedly “functionally” associated with Deir al-Zor. In one of these locations a large amount of natural uranium particles was discovered in its samples, but the meaning of these traces is yet to be concluded.
