The US is not accepting Palestinian passport carriers’ visa applications, according to present and ex-US officials, Middle East Eye reported on September 1st, citing The New York Times.

The New York Times reported on August 31st that a message was sent on August 18th to every US embassy to temporarily not accept visas from those who have passports issued from the Palestinian Authority (PA).

The ban seems to have occurred after pressure was put on the Trump administration by far-right activist Laura Loomer to not permit Palestinian children suffering from injuries to go to the US, according to officials who spoke to Middle East Eye on September 1st.
