France issues arrest warrants for Assad and ex-Syrian officials

France has issued arrest warrants against the former Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad and six other ex-senior officials of Syria, over an attack on a Homs press centre, Al-Monitor via Reuters reported on September 2nd.

On February 22nd 2012, a rocket struck the press centre, causing the deaths of the well-known US journalist Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik. An interpreter and two other journalists suffered injuries due to the attack.

According to the International Federation for Human Rights the seven ex-officials were allegedly guilty of complicity in war crimes as well as crimes against humanity for the bombing.
