Inmates fail to flee Syrian camp holding Islamic State families

Syrian Kurdish forces said on September 3rd that they foiled an attempt by over 50 detainees to flee a camp, which detains people who are allegedly connected with the Islamic State (IS), Al-Monitor via AFP reported.

According to Kurdish security forces they had stopped a “mass escape attempt” from northeast Syria’s Al-Hol camp by a number of IS families on September 2nd.

The forces said that the inmates tried to flee through the use of a big vehicle. The vehicle was intercepted by the troops as it attempted to exit via the main gate and everybody inside was arrested.
