At least 21,000 Gaza children have been disabled since the Israel-Hamas conflict erupted on October 7th 2023, according to a UN committee, Al-Monitor via AFP reported on September 3rd.

Since the conflict started, roughly 40,500 children have experienced “new war-related injuries” with over 50% of them having consequently become disabled, according to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The committee said evacuation directives during the Israeli army’s attacks on Gaza were typically “inaccessible” for people with vision or hearing difficulties making “evacuation impossible”.
