France launches corruption inquiry into ex-Lebanese PM

A corruption inquiry into the ex-Lebanese prime minister, Najib Mikati, has been launched by France, as stated by lawyers on September 14th, according to France 24 via AFP.
The billionaire and ex-leader was in office until January 2025. The Collective of Victims of Fraudulent and Criminal Practices in Lebanon and Sherpa – a group which tackles corruption – initially lodged a complaint against the 69-year-old last year.
Both groups had claimed that the former prime minister and his brother, Taha Mikati had developed their wealth through fraudulent activity.
