EU demands military restraint in Libya’s capital

EU representatives have advocated for immediate de-escalation in military activity regarding Tripoli, Libya’s capital, amid ongoing militia violence as reported in Maghrebi Week.
Military mobilizations have steadily increased in the capital, risking armed confrontations between government forces, opposing militia groups and other forces. Any confrontation risks potential political progress being made under the new United Nations political roadmap.
UN envoy to Libya Hanna Tetteh held a meeting with EU ambassadors, discussing measures on implementing the new roadmap, highlighting the importance of unifying Libya’s institutions in the wake of widespread violence.
