In a recent political standoff, the Gambian Auditor General, Momodou Ceesay, was forcibly removed from office in dramatic fashion following a cabinet reshuffle by the country’s President Adama Barrow, as reported in Maghrebi Week.

Ceesay refused to give up the position, instead choosing to live stream a press conference on social media while plain clothes police officers-who were sent to remove him from the Auditor General’s office-were prevented from doing so by Mr Ceesay’s staff.

The now former Gambian Auditor General, was eventually removed from the building and taken to his lawyer’s office, while protesters gathered at the site to voice their anger at his dismissal, citing a coverup amid corruption allegations on some of the country’s top politicians.
