Israeli forces push into Gaza City as displacement escalates

Israeli forces advanced into Gaza City on September 16th in their mission to seize the city, leading to more Palestinians being left with no choice but to flee as the conflict worsens, as covered by Maghrebi Week on September 22nd.

Israel Katz, the defence minister of Israel, said “Gaza is burning” following fierce air strikes, while the military spokesman Lt Col Avichay Adraee called on residents to flee.

But many Palestinians in Gaza face high prices in their bid to flee the conflict, with some lorry drivers expecting up to US$1,000 for a journey out.
