The Libyan man accused of building a bomb used in one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on British soil, Abu Agila Masoud, has claimed that his confession was coerced and false, according to the Libya Review on September 19th.

Maoud’s confession first emerged publicly in 2020, 32 years after the attack, and the FBI have said that he allegedly admitted involvement in 2012, but he now says that masked men forced him to memorise details of the attack while in custody in Libya and threatened his family.

Masoud is pleading not guilty and his defence team has stated that any confession is unreliable due to the intimidation faced by those linked to dictator Muammar Gaddafi’s regime.
