UN envoy to Libya discusses new roadmap with Haftar

Hanna Tetteh, head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), met eastern Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar to discuss the recently presented political roadmap for Libya, as reported in Maghrebi Week.

The focus of the roadmap is based on unifying Libya’s divisive political space to ensure national democratic elections, as well as maintaining stability in Tripoli amid continuous militia activity.

Haftar’s affiliation with the eastern Libyan Government of National Stability positions him as a pivotal figure in Libya’s political future, and Tetteh’s ability to consult all Libyan parties will define the success of her roadmap in the years to come.
