Morocco was the third-largest supplier of Watermelons to the European Union during 2024/25, according to Moroccan government-friendly outlet, The North Africa Post, on October 7.

Between August 2024 and July 2025, Morocco exported over 158 tonnes of watermelons to the EU, generating over $200 million (£154 million) in revenue, reported Icex-Eurostat.

Over the past decade, Moroccan watermelon exports to the EU have increased by 118%. The shift points to a move toward higher-quality production, helped by favourable conditions and Spain’s weakening performance.
