Leaked documents reveal Algeria purchased Russian fighter jets

After the war with Ukraine considerably decreased its military equipment sales, leaked documents suggest countries are purchasing arms from Russia again, and Algeria was revealed as one of the Soukhoï Su-57 fighter jet buyers, according to l’Express via AFP on October 9th.

Russia had announced it sold arms to undisclosed countries, rumours and information regarding the sale were floating after it was announced on Algerian TV, but nothing had truly confirmed the purchase of the jets until the leak.

This is historic purchase for an African country, the fighter jets are very strategic, dissuading and powerful assets that are set to increase Algeria’s standing as a regional power.
