Mali’s coup conspirators dismissed from the military
Mali’s junta has dismissed senior officers accused of plotting an August coup, deepening rifts in the military.
According to AfricaNews on October 10th, Among those remove are Brigadier Generals Abass Dembele and Nema Sagara, alongside several lieutenant colonels and captains. The decree described the move as a disciplinary measure to a “subversive act” on August 1st.
A French citizen, Yann Christian Benard Vizilier, was also named for “actively participating” in the foiled plot, a claim that worsened the already strained relations between Mali and France.
