Egypt warns against sidelining Palestinian Authority
Egypt has expressed strong frustration over the Palestinian Authority (PA) being sidelined in the US peace plan for Gaza, as covered by Maghrebi Week on October 13th.
The North African country has warned that it would withhold participation in post-war peacekeeping missions unless Palestinians are given a meaningful role in governance.
The plan envisages Gaza being led by a transitional technocratic committee supervised by US President Donald Trump and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, prompting concerns about its legitimacy and ability to ensure fair administration in the Palestinian territory.
