UK played “vital role” in Gaza peace, says US envoy

The US Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, praised the UK government’s “vital role” in securing a Gaza ceasefire deal on October 13th, as reported by the Middle East Eye.

This praise came after US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, called UK Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson “delusional” after she spoke on October 12th about the “key role” Britain played in negotiating a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Witkoff contradicted Huckabee on the morning of October 13th by writing on X, “I would like to acknowledge the vital role of the United Kingdom in assisting and coordinating efforts that have led us to this historic day in Israel.”
