Rome protests Libya migrant deal after boat wreck

Protests by migrants and rights activists took place on October 18, against Italy’s migrant deal with Libya, according to The New Arab via AFP.Â
The protest held a minute’s silence for those who lost their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean, and many migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa recounted what they had to endure in Libya. On October 17th, around 20 people were reported missing and presumed dead after a migrant boat capsized in the Mediterranean.
Activist Sarita Fratini told AFP that “in the central Mediterranean, there is a line called the line of death”, continuing that, “in the Libyan area you get captured, in the north you die because no one is there.”
