Afghan women’s refugee team to play football match in Morocco

A football tournament involving the Afghanistan women’s refugee team is set to take place in Morocco from October 26th, Reuters has reported.
Originally scheduled to run in Dubai from October 23-29, the four-team friendly competition was organised by FIFA and features the national women’s teams of the UAE, Chad and Libya.
The creation of a refugee football team for Afghan women came after the Taliban took over the country in 2021 and established a complete ban on women’s sports — prompting most athletes to flee the country and seek asylum in Australia.
