Cameroon: One dead amid contentious election

One person has died after reportedly being shot by a police officer in the Cameroonian city of Garoua during a demonstration as the country awaits its presidential election results, according to Africa News via agencies on October 22nd.
The victim was identified as a young teacher named Zouhairatou Hassana, who neighbours claim was shot dead by a police officer on October 21st.
The demonstrations follow a contentious election held on October 12th, with the candidates being the current President, Paul Biya, and opposition leader Issa Tchiroma. Both candidates declared victory on October 20th, despite the results not being released until later this week.
