Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s potential leading role in post-war Gaza has been much anticipated, according to an Egyptian official, the Middle East Eye and agencies reported on October 21st.

“Blair’s re-emergence in the Gaza file is no coincidence, for he is acting like a modern-day British high commissioner” – an Egyptian presidential advisor told Middle East Eye.

The adviser, who said Blair is anticipated to play a crucial part in leading the Palestinian territory, compared the ex-prime minister to the Zionist, Herbert Samuel, who between 1920 to 1925, led Mandatory Palestine.
