Nigeria: fuel tanker explosion kills at least 42

An oil tanker explosion which took place after the vehicle skidded away from the road, before crashing, has killed at least 42 people in the central Niger state of Nigeria, the BBC reported on October 22nd, citing an aid worker.

A further 52 people who sustained injuries are at present getting treated in a hospital, according to the head of the Niger state emergency service, Abdullahi Baba Ara.

Many people were burned to the point that they were no long recognizable, due to the blaze from the explosion. In Nigeria, tanker explosions have been ongoing.
