South African pupils suspended after violent school assault

South African authorities have suspended eight pupils due to a case of alleged bullying as seen through a circulated video showing a 16-year-old boy being violently attacked at Milnerton High School in Cape Town on October 22nd as reported by BBC News Africa.
The boy, who recently completed chemotherapy for cancer, was assaulted by several pupils using a hockey stick, hose pipe, and belt. National outrage led to a protest, which prompted police to disperse crowds with tear gas.
Human rights groups condemned the attack, calling it assault, not mere bullying, and urged urgent action to protect children in schools.
