US advisor: Only Israel-held Gaza should be rebuilt

Jared Kushner, advisor and son-in-law of US President, Donald Trump, has proposed to only rebuild the parts of Gaza that are under Israeli occupation as written by Middle East Eye and agencies on October 22nd.

In an official statement from Kushner on October 21st: “There are considerations happening now in the area that the IDF controls, as long as that can be secured, to start the construction as a new Gaza in order to give the Palestinians living in Gaza a place to go, a place to get jobs, a place to live.”

Kushner went on to say that areas under Hamas control would not receive reconstruction funds, possibly in an attempt to contribute to the increasing pressure Hamas is receiving to relinquish power through things such as reduced aid. Read more here.
