Israel: defence minister vows to end emergency in the south
Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, has said that southern Israel’s emergency status will be brought to an end, according to reports by the Middle East Eye via The Times of Israel on October 27th.
The region had been under a state of emergency since October 7th, 2023, following Hamas-led attacks which killed 1200 people.
The order will expire on October 28th, and will mark the first time in over two years that the area has not been the location of a “special situation.”
