Amnesty: US airstrike on Yemen jail could be a war crime
Human rights watchdog Amnesty International has said that the April 28th US airstrike on a Yemeni jail should be investigated as a potential war crime, according to the Associated Press on October 29th.
The attack occurred in Yemen’s Saada province and killed more than 60 African migrants who were detained at the Houthi-run detention facility. The strike was part of a US-led campaign that targeted the rebel group over its repeated attacks on US vessels in the Red Sea.
The Houthis claim the attacks on vessels were a display of solidarity with Gaza, as they targeted commercial ships allegedly connected to Israel.
