Protests over Tanzania’s disputed election spill into Kenya
Violent protests in Tanzania following controversial elections have now spilled into neighbouring Kenya, reports Reuters on October 31st.
After a violent police crackdown, hundreds of protesters crossed into the border town of Namanga to seek refuge, resulting in shots being fired into Kenya.
The protests were sparked by the repressive context of the election, with the barring of two opposition candidates and incumbent president Samia Suhulu Hassan imposing an internet blackout.
