Lebanon calls for new negotiations with Israel despite strikes
President Joseph Aoun has called again for Lebanon to negotiate a peace process with Israel despite repeated attacks on its territory, according to The National and agencies on October 31st.
He stated, “Lebanon is ready for negotiations to end the Israeli occupation, but any negotiation requires mutual willingness, which is not the case”, thus accusing Israel of refusing to engage.
In addition, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem noted that his group had held their side of the deal by ceasing attacks against Israel and retreating north of the Litani river , but that the Hebrew state’s actions were working “towards the creation of Greater Israel”, which they couldn’t accept.
