US: Americans head to the polls for state and local elections
On November 4th, Americans headed to the polls to cast their votes in the U.S. local and state elections for the highly publicised and competitive New York mayoral race as well as for a policy in California that could help Democrats win more seats in the Congress, according to AP News.
The New York City mayor race received significant attention from Trump and other high-ranking officials, who heavily criticised the democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani on social media for his progressive policies they deemed as “socialist” or “communist”.
Trump’s deployments of the National Guard led to confrontations with governors and mayors, and Americans will also be voting on some measures that Democrats hope will limit his overreach, while Republicans are wiling to give Trump more leeway.
