US: Government shutdown ties with longest one in history

On November 4th, the current U.S. federal government shutdown now ties with the longest one in history and is set to break the record, as no major breakthrough are expected to emerge in the upcoming hours, according to France 24 via AFP.

There were bleak signs of a resolution between the ruling parties, and Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune declared on November 3rd that new talks between Republicans and Democrats could potentially lead to a deal before next week.

The activities of federal departments and agencies have been on a placed on a halt, impacting millions of Americans who work for the federal government or depend on its services.
