Ethiopia to host 2027 UN climate summit
Ethiopia has been named as the host country for the COP32 UN climate summit in 2027, according to Africa News and agencies on November 11th.
The summit is expected to focus on Africa’s role in advancing climate justice and solutions, as African countries are disproportionately affected by climate change due to their limited adaptive capacity and reliance on sectors that are heavily dependent on climate conditions, such as agriculture.
Extreme weather has contributed to rising hunger in African countries, with crop prices surging amid droughts and heatwaves. The situation has been exacerbated by cuts to international humanitarian aid.
