Lebanon: Hezbollah to hold on to weapons despite US pressure

The leader of Hezbollah has announced that the group will not relinquish its weapons, despite US pressure to do so, according to Arab Weekly plus agencies on November 12th.

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem stated: “We will not give up our weapons, which give us strength and determination.” Washington is reportedly pushing to cut off the funding sources of Hezbollah, while also pushing for the group to be disarmed.

The Shia militant group has previously declared that it has “a legitimate right to resist Israeli occupation” amid escalating Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon.
