Tunisia: opposition leader beaten in jail during hunger strike
Supporters of the jailed opposition leader of Tunisia Jawhar Ben Mbarek claimed that he was beaten up by prison authorities, as they tried to intimidate him during his hunger strike, according to Africanews via Reuters on November 14th.
Ben Mbarek’s lawyer was provided with evidence that he was tortured and brutally attacked, with his body sustaining bruises and fractures after he was beaten by the prison authorities.
The jailed opposition leader reportedly is refusing to end his hunger strike, which other prominent opposition leaders joined in an effort to put pressure on the Tunisian government.
