The US trial of former Libyan intelligence operative, Abu Agila Mohammad Masud Al Marimi, the suspect in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, has been delayed, according to a report by The National and agencies on November 16th.

All 259 people aboard the Pan Am flight were killed in the bomb attack on December 21st, 1988, along with 11 people on the ground in the Scottish town of Lockerbie. The flight had taken off from London and was bound for New York.

Charges were first filed by the FBI against Masoud after he reportedly confessed to playing a key role in the attack in 2012, although he has since claimed his confession was coerced and false. Masoud pleaded not guilty in 2023 to charges connected to the attack, which was one of the deadliest terror attacks in US and UK history.
