French firm TotalEnergies accused of war crimes in Mozambique
A German NGO is suing French energy giant TotalEnergies for complicity in war crimes in Mozambique after the torture and death of dozens of civilians, report France 24 and agencies on 18th November.
The allegations focus on an armed security force the company hired to protect its gas site in Cabo Delgado, in the northeast of Mozambique, in 2021.
Internal documents show that these forces captured and killed civilians suspected of “supporting jihadists”, and that TotalEnergies continued supporting them despite being aware of the violence.
