Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, has endorsed a UN resolution on Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for the Western Sahara dispute, according to the Moroccan government-friendly North Africa Post and agencies on November 20th.

Support for the resolution on the plan, which would grant the Western Sahara limited self-governance under Moroccan sovereignty, was expressed by Sangaré following talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat.

The UN Security Council voted to support the plan, also known as Resolution 2797, on October 31st. Support for Moroccan sovereignty is widespread, with 130 nations believing Resolution 2797 is the most “feasible solution” to the dispute.
