Israel: committee supports West Bank land purchasing bill
The Israeli Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee has approved a bill that would make it easier for Jews to buy land in the Occupied West Bank, according to the Middle East Eye via Haaretz on November 25th.
The bill was backed by four Knesset members, with no opposition; it has been moved to its first reading in the parliament.
According to estimates, more than 500,000 Israeli settlers reside across the Occupied West Bank. When taking into account the amount of settlers in Occupied East Jerusalem, over 700,000 Israelis are living in approximately 160 settlements across the Occupied Palestinian territories.
