A group of 24 girls who were abducted on November 17th from a boarding school in Kebbi, Nigeria, have been freed by the Nigerian authorities, reports France 24 plus agencies on November 26th.

The attack in Kebbi was one of several recent mass abductions in Nigeria, including a separate incident in which more than 300 students were taken.

Kidnappings have become increasingly common in parts of Nigeria, where criminal gangs target victims at random for ransom payments. Critics argue that the Nigerian government is not doing enough to tackle the crisis.
