Western Sahara: Algeria accused of rewriting history
Algeria has been accused of rewriting history by attempting to obscure its involvement in the long-standing Western Sahara dispute, according to the Moroccan government-friendly North Africa Post and agencies on November 27th.
Resolution 2797, also known as the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, was originally supported through a UN Security Council vote on October 31st, and the proposal received widespread international support.
However, Algeria has rejected the proposal and allegedly attempted to alter the Arabic translation of Resolution 2797 by pushing for a version that states “two parties”, Morocco and the Polisario Front, were involved in the conflict; allegedly hoping to distance itself from the conflict.
