The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on December 2nd, which demands that Israel withdraws from Syria’s Golan Heights, according to The New Arab and agencies.

The resolution was submitted by Egypt and passed with 123 votes for it, while seven countries, including the US and Israel, voted against it.

Israel has occupied the Syrian territory since 1967, after its capture during the Six-Day War. An estimated 25,000 Israeli settlers reside in the Golan Heights, which some view as part of Israel’s territory, due to the “Greater Israel” project.
