Sami Hamdi says his detention showed decline of “America first”
The British pro-Palestine commentator Sami Hamdi suggested his detention in the US reflected the country’s struggle between meeting domestic needs and satisfying its longtime ally, Israel.
“I wouldn’t necessarily separate what is happening in America to my experience in detention. One of the crises that’s taking place in America is the battle between America first and Israel first,” said Hamdi, during an interview with The Thinking Muslim podcast, which was published on its YouTube channel on November 18th.
According to The Guardian on October 26th, Donald Trump ally Laura Loomer, took credit for Hamdi’s detention. Hamdi insisted that Loomer’s involvement represents an attack on American peoples rights “to speak about the Palestinians.”
