Sudan: 6 UN peacekeepers killed in drone strike
A drone attack on a UN facility in Sudan has killed six peacekeepers, all from Bangladesh, and injured 6 others, reports France 24 on 13th December.
The strike targeted a UN camp in Kadugli in the South Kordofan state, which is disputed territory between Sudan and South Sudan. Kadugli has been besieged by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since 2024 and declared famine in November.
Another drone attack on a kindergarten in South Kordofan killed dozens last week. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres described the attack as horrific, adding that “there will need to be accountability”.
