30 people jailed in Benin over thwarted coup attempt
30 people, mostly soldiers, have been jailed in Benin on 16th December for the unsuccessful coup attempt on 7th December, according to Africanews via AFP.
The accused were jailed following charges of treason, murder and endangering state security.
The soldiers appeared on state television earlier this month, declaring that the government had been dissolved. However, their power grab was prevented by loyalists in the military, with aid from France, Nigeria and other West African allies.
