Israeli forces advance into Syrian villages
Israeli forces have advanced into the countryside of Quneitra, located south of Damascus in Syria, as reported by the Middle East Eye via the Syrian Sana news agency on December 17th.
Syria’s Golan Heights has been occupied since 1967, with Israel seizing more land in the UN-patrolled buffer zone following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government on December 8th, 2024.
A temporary checkpoint was established by Israeli forces, marking the latest violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Israel and Syria.
