Netanyahu announces $35 billion Israeli gas deal with Egypt
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed a near $35 billion gas export deal with Egypt on December 17th, claiming it was the biggest gas deal in his country’s history, according to a report from The New Arab plus agencies.
During a televised statement, Netanyahu said: “The deal is worth 112 billion shekels ($34.7 billion). Of this total, 58 billion shekels ($18 billion) will go to the state coffers.”
Energy Minister Eli Cohen, who was present during the announcement, added it was also the “largest export deal in the state’s history.”
