Sudan: Over 1000 killed in attacks on refugee camp
A new report by the UN’s human rights office has announced that over 1000 civilians were killed in attacks on the Zamzam refugee camp in Darfur in April 2025, reports France 24 via AFP on December 18th.
The report mentions other human rights violations including rape, torture and kidnapping, during the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) offensive against the refugee camp, which displaced 400,000 people.
In a statement, UN rights chief Volker Turk described the report as a “stark reminder of the need for prompt action to end the cycles of atrocities and violence”.
